Sabbatical positions are full time. The successful candidates will take a year out their course of study starting from early June and the time in office will last until the following June. The same rules apply if sabbatical officers graduate in the same year as they are elected. The hours of work are generally 9 to 5 Monday to Friday but often sabbaticals are required to work outwith these hours and a flexible approach to work is necessary. Being a sabbatical officer gives the successful candidate the opportunity to make a direct impact to the student experience at QMU while gaining invaluable skills and experience as full training will be given throughout the year.
Volunteer Positions are part-time while studying at QMU. Part time executive can spend as much or as little time as they can afford fulfilling their roles, however some minimum commitment is necessary in attending meetings and support the sabbatical officers. Activities and meetings that involve attendance from volunteer officers are normally arranged to suit their availability always baring in mind that studying comes first. The successful candidate will be on post for 12 months (June until June) and they will be given the opportunity to attend specific and relevant training from the start.
