► Cobweb Update
The first production that Cobweb is producing this year is collaboration with the Drama Society; Edward Albee's Zoo Story is going on the stage November the 26th and 27th in the Forest Cafe Edinburgh. The aim of the project is to show just how well Cobweb can collaborate with other drama groups. It is a colaboration in every aspect, Actors from Cobweb Director from Society... and so on.
Our Largest project of the year is Iain Orr’s adaptation of JM Barry’s ‘Peter Pan’ This project has an almost entirely new cast bringing thirteen new students in to the company and under the spotlight as well as having a number of our veterans in to get involved with other aspects of the production. The production, Cobweb’s largest project at the moment is to be put on in our resident theatre Adam House in January 2010 from the 28th to the 30th
On the 3rd of November, Cobweb Theatre Company went to Linlithgow Academy for the first of six weeks of Community orientated Drama workshops. The overall aim of the workshops is to help the school’s growing ‘comedy club’ create a series of short sketches which will be produced in December as a part of the schools Christmas show. Linlithgow Academy unfortunately does not have a drama department, so all being well Cobweb might end up having a permanent residency in Linlithgow to help support and run a drama group. This is a great opportunity for Cobweb to expand once again in to different forms of drama, all being well we will not only be a New Writing and Traditional Proscenium Company producing work for all students to get involved with but also a company which is placed at the heart the community working with children to bring our knowledge to them. If anyone is interested with working with enthusiastic children and have good ideas that they think that they could bring to this aspect of the company we would be happy to hear your ideas.
Caught in the Web is Cobwebs new writing, acting and directing project, this aims to include again more veterans from the past two years of Cobwebs productions with a focus to showing off the companies own talent. There are a variety of short plays that have been written by our own members and directed by our directors to produce two nights of entertainment which will go up in the ‘1044’ or the black box studio on campus in December this year on the 10th and 11th for free. Although the project has a main focus for new writing acting and directing, this project also aims to include a variety of poetry, photography and art throughout.
