Callum's experience being Environment and Ethics Officer

Hello! My name is Callum! I’m currently a 2nd year nutrition and food science student and I’m the Environment and Ethics Officer. I was elected through the by-election because the role wasn't filled the first time round. Don't miss your chance to become an officer from the start to get the full experience!

What I have achieved

In the short time, I have been a part of the Officer’s committee, I have attended the meetings every two weeks as well as help raise awareness of the Student’s Union and the impact that it has across campus. I have helped frequently with the events that have been planned such as helping to organise the Officer’s pub quiz and taking part in the Not So Tough Mudder. Before Christmas we helped out a local food bank - loved it. Through everything I’ve done in the short time, I have focused on showing what the union can do for the students!

What I have gained

I have gained insight into just how hard the union works to give all our students the best chance of having an incredible time here at QMU! I have contributed to the success of the year so far and in return I have developed confidence in reaching out to all students. I feel I am more capable of working in a team and working under the guidance that I’ve received. As well as understanding just how much time and effort the union and their staff put into improving lives of students.

I’ve been so lucky to have been a part of it all and I would love to see the next Officer take the role further and be blessed with the experiences that I’ve had.The next Officer with the same type of role will be called Communities Officer to clarify a bit of the role. The nominations are now open, so if you want to do some exciting stuff, learn to work as part of a team and have a great experience check out the website for more information.
