TravelAdvocates LGBT Studies and Research Scholarship

TravelAdvocates have established at Queen Margaret University an annual scholarship geared towards LGBT studies in the tourism and events industry. Generally, the bursary will be awarded to one or more recipients a year who demonstrate a desire to explore LGBT issues as they may relate to the tour and travel and events industries. Recipients do not have to self-identify as LGBT. The scholarship monies could be used by each recipient to reduce expenses to travel to an appropriate international convention to further explore the topic or to conduct research.

The bursary may be awarded to one (£500.00) or up to two students per year (£250.00 per person) based upon the discretion of the selection committee. 100% of funds will be transferred directly to the student(s).

Any undergraduate or post graduate student at QMU may apply. A call for applications will be announced in October 2017 and the award will be made in November 2017. A committee chaired by the SU President with members from the teaching staff and other student representatives will select the recipient(s).

The recipient(s) shall be required to send a thank you letter to the donor upon receipt of the award and a two A4 page report summarizing how they have used their funds and the outcome of their studies or research.
