Sport Team Budget Forms and Guidance

The Student Union can provide funding to help you to run your Sports Club.


The SU receives a limited amount of funding from the University for S&S each year. We endeavour to split this funding as fairly as possible between all S&S and it’s important you follow the guidance for budget requests.

These funds can be used for a number of things from Minibus booking, pitch and room hire, attending conferences, putting on shows, costumes, kits and all manner of other requirements to help you succesfully run your chosen Club or Team.


You will be issued a budget request to complete and return to the SU. Before completing the form, you should review the current year spend and also do calculations with regards to the basic costs of running your club/society costs (room bookings, resources, entry fees, affiliation costs, training costs, facility hire, transport costs, officials etc) You must be realistic and no amount is guaranteed.


  • Please ensure that your committee has returned the QMUSU Sports and Societies Committee Details and Constitution document.
  • Please note that these forms will NOT been sent to the outgoing committee members - it is the responsibility of the Captain / President of the new incoming committee to ensure that these forms are submitted before the deadline.
  • Budget Forms will NOT be sent to committees who have not carried out their AGM and submitted Committee and Constitution forms by the deadline.



  • Budget Spreadsheets will be emailed out during the last week of April.
  • Deadline for completed funding requests forms to be received by the Student vice President is 31st May - (next budget forms are due to be submitted on 31st May 2018) to request funding for the following Academic year.
  • The Spreadsheet must be returned by email only to  - In no instance will late applications be considered.
  • The Student Vice President and Finance Administrator will meet to discuss completed forms in June / July.
  • A letter confirming agreed budget for the coming year will be emailed to the committee on or after 31st July.


Budget Review

At the end of December/beginning of January it is best practice to review budget spend that has already been used and what is still required for each club & society. This may free up some funds that can be re-allocated to others who may have been refused funding or who may require extra


Sports or Societies who miss this deadline must apply for discretionary funding in September at the start of the next academic year.
