Description

Welcome to the Bad Arts Appreciation Society!

Also known simply as Barta.

We’re a society that encourages people to enjoy, critique and produce art of deep personal or emotional value, regardless of originality or critical potential.

Follow our socials!

Get in touch with any questions!

We host biweekly meetups, with collabs and fundraisers sprinkled in between. Our meetups consist of a showcase¹, followed by a discussion aspect. The discussions may be in the form of a debate, or even just a few drinks at the student bar. We also hold an online space (Whatsapp) where people can share art that they enjoy, or organise other screenings or meetups!

“Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it”

 – Confucius -

This society is not about ridicule or promoting hatred. Instead we aim to be a strongly inclusive and supportive social environment, about discussing the reality of art. What is good art? Does the objective quality matter if it's sincere or simply entertaining? It's a passion for broken things.

“All bad poetry springs from genuine feeling"

 - Oscar Wilde -

This is a small society for a community of similarly interested individuals. A welcoming space to make friendships with absolutely no barriers of entry. Get involved! We look forward to meeting you and discovering what art you enjoy :)

¹ showcase may involve, but is not limited to Film, Painting, Meme, Song, etc .

² a term used to denote a state in which earnest and ironic intents become muddled.
