Self Defence Workshop

Join us on 11th March for a masterclass in self-protection with Scottish Centre for Personal Safety: award-winning, trauma-informed instructors covering both theory/legal information/tips and practical skills. The day includes a 1hr lunch break.

Information covered may include:

  • the law regarding self defence
  • reasonable use of force
  • warning signs and danger signs (so you can recognise when an attacker is about to attack before it happens)
  • voice control and de-escalation
  • defensive stance
  • the T-Zone (where to effectively strike an attacker); improvised weapons
  • and various scenarios such as what to do if you're being followed

Practical skills covered may include

  • breakaway techniques from a wrist grab or clothing grab
  • escape from a strangle hold
  • how to defend against a frontal attack, back attack and ground attack
  • and, if you wish, defence against a sexual assault

"Our self-defence techniques do not rely on strength. It doesn’t matter if you are male or female, big or small, fit or unfit, young or old. Our techniques will use your entire body against a small part of your attacker’s body."
