Since QMU has its campus in Musselburgh all the students use public transport to get either to or form the campus. There is a studnetdiscount for the Lothian Busses but it is not sustantial and does not help with the affordability. 

My suggestion is to create a semester or year ticket for a certain amount (200 pounds for a year for example) r

That would include free transport for a ticket holder in both Loathian Busses (all local lines) and Scotrail Trains (in the city limits of Edinburgh and Musselburgh). 

This ticket can also be a cooperation with the other Universities in Edinburgh.
