Class Reps

Take control of your learning and teaching experience, be a Class Rep!

Class Reps are the first point of contact for any issue with your course. They act as a communication link between the class and the academic staff, which means liaising on any issues that arise on the course or providing student feedback on the course.

What does it involve?

It can sound like a lot of work, but being a Class Reps is easy. Some responsibilities include:

  • Talk to your course mates about their opinions about their course, their experience and other academic issues.

  • Attend meetings with staff to represent those views.

  • Attend the Academic Council, see more here.

  • Communicate effectively with peers, University staff and the Students’ Union to improve your course and experience.

  • Attend the training offered by the Students' Union.

  • Contact the Student President if you have any issues during the year or to let them know about any major projects.

Why be a Rep?

Being a Rep is a great opportunity to boost your CV as you will develop transferable skills such as problem solving, communication, and meeting skills that can be used in future employment. You’ll also get a chance to see how decisions are made across the University. Best of all you get to have an impact and make a difference!

What’s next?

You don’t need any previous experience to be Class Rep. If you want to improve the student voice at QMU and get some new experiences, just speak to your Program Leader.

Elections normally take place in the first few weeks of Semester 1, though this could be different on your course.
