Gaelic Football Men's

Description

In 1897 Irish sport integrated into Scotland as the first Gaelic football match was played on Scottish soil. 120 years later Scotland is home to 5 Club teams and 7 University teams. Following a number of years absent from competition, the large Irish community studying at QMU provides a foundation for the re-establishment of a Mens Gaelic football team.

The Mens Gaelic football team provides an opportunity for lads from Ireland, Scotland and the rest of the world to bask in Irish culture. Gaelic football is an incredibly skilful and physical sport. The aim for the squad of 2022/23 is to develop a home away from home as well as move in the right direction towards regaining the success of previous Mens Gaelic football teams of QMU.

Competing against other universities in Scotland and potentially further a field provides an opportunity to keep fit, make friends, socialise and to take a break from the books. Away days to Glasgow, Aberdeen, Stirling and Dundee are on the cards, allowing members to enjoy the rest of Scotland. Training throughout the year will be once or twice a week. Don’t worry, there will be no lack of social activities and rehydration sessions throughout the year too.

Although it will help you on a night out, there is no need for county experience. Whether you’re a GAA head, looking to keep active, interested in trying something new or wanting to make friends, the mens Gaelic football team is a good place to make the most of your Uni experience.  You can follow and DM the instagram for more information - @qmu_mensgaa
