Hi, I’m Tim, your QMU Events Officer and you may have seen me around Freshers’ Week. Freshers’ Week was a long week for new students and officers alike - but it was a fantastic week, full of events aimed at welcoming new students.  At one of these events, Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, Student Officers got to introduce ourselves to the new students for the first time. I think we were all as nervous as the freshers, because it can be daunting meeting a lot of new people. However this didn’t stop us taking the proactive approach to get to know as many people as we could. We even joined in the speed friending as well!

I really enjoyed the Colour Run, and it was great to see people engaged in non-alcoholic events as well. I also got to perform at Late & Live, with some spoken word poetry – this went really well and I got to connect with people on a different level then I usually would. It was a new positive experience! My experience of Freshers as an officer was a very different from when I was a fresher myself, but it enhanced my outgoing nature and built more confidence in talking to a group of people. One of the sweetest moments was during the QMU Pub March when Barrie Wilkins got all the freshers to sing the glorious QMU song on Chamber St outside McSorley’s! It was truly a QMULove moment.  #ohqmu
