Freshers' Week is just the beginning...

Freshers’ week 2018 was a great success, especially in terms of student engagement. I have never seen so many freshers in my life! The events that we had set up for the week such as our Thailand themed ‘Full Moon Party’, Witchery Tour, Bowling and Pub March turned out to be incredibly popular and this both inspires and enthuses the Student Union for the future events to come.

It was extremely impressive to see how many people turned up to this year’s Freshers’ Fair, I have high hopes for student participation in this year’s Sports & Societies, events and fundraisers.

I am really looking forward to next year’s Freshers’ week and fair and all events in between. I am hoping to get myself fully involved in as many activities as possible and hope that others see and take the opportunities that appear.

One thing I would definitely recommend as a top tip not only for freshers but all students, especially if you feel you are struggling, is to join a sport or society. It is a great way to make friends and become part of a family. Although it may seem daunting at first, taking opportunities and getting involved in as much as possible with the Students’ Union, Sports & Societies, University and life outside of University only helps you to grow, to learn, to gain more confidence and to become the best version of yourself.
