Introduction of the New Neurodiversity & Disability Student Network

We are thrilled to announce the upcoming launch of our Neurodiversity & Disability Student Network—a pioneering initiative to build an inclusive and supportive environment for all students. This new network promotes understanding, acceptance, and equal opportunities for students of all neurodiverse and disability backgrounds.

Our Mission

The Neurodiversity & Disability Student Network aspires to create a community where every student feels valued and empowered. Our mission is to:

·      Advocate for neurodiverse and students with disabilities and their unique needs

·      Provide resources and support for both academic, personal and professional development

·      Promote awareness and education about neurodiversity and disability among the student body and faculty

·      Encourage a culture of inclusivity, support and respect

Activities and Initiatives

The group will organise a variety of activities and initiatives, including:

·      Workshops and training sessions on neurodiversity and disability

·      Peer support groups and resources

·      Collaborative projects and advocacy campaigns

·      Social events to inspire a sense of community and belonging

How to Get Involved

Are you a student who is neurodiverse, has a chronic condition, has an invisible or visible disability? Or are you a student who is generally interested in creating an anti-ableist space? If so, this network is for you! There is no formal criteria to get involved; you can be self-diagnosed, formally diagnosed, or have a keen interest in disability/neurodiversity! To express your interest and become part of this transformative initiative, please log your details through this form. Alternatively, please email us at suofficers@qmu.ac.uk. Once we have an idea of how many students would like to be involved, we will get in touch with more details.

Contact Information

For any enquiries or further details, please contact:

Murrin Huarachi (EDI Officer) or Kirsty Lovie (Wellbeing Officer) at suofficers@qmu.ac.uk or directly via student email.

We look forward to embarking on this journey together and making our university a more inclusive and supportive place for everyone.
