Hello, I am Louise Duncan and I won Outstanding Engagement of the Year.

How do you feel about winning a STaR Award this year?

I am really very touched. I have been committed to the union and the university from the start but was able to do more this year; wanting to make the student experience the best it can be. I did this because I felt it was important to give something back to the university, so I am moved by the fact that others felt I deserved something for my hard work. Overall, this year has taught me about proper time management and the levels to which I can push myself. I want to thank everyone I have worked with to help improve the student experience but also to those who have nominated me for this award.

What have you done/do you plan to do with your certificate and trophy?

My certificate and trophy are currently sat with my Silver Swan and Society Scarlet. I intend on making a nice wee area for them so I can be reminded of my hard work and the people who believe in me.

What do you enjoy most about your experience at QMU?

It's been amazing to work alongside committed and devoted staff and students. There are so many at Queen Margaret who want students to do their best and it is this dedication which motivates me to work hard. To talk with staff, who want to support and guide their students is rewarding and to work alongside other students, who wish to support their fellow students, can be exciting but equally rewarding in its own way.
