HW 5's 0-4 QMU

From the start, QMU looked dangerous. Our midfield trio of Lewis, Cammy and Roland led a strong press which eventually led to a loose pass across the HW box, which debutant Musab pounced on and hit it first time past the keeper. 1-0 in 20 minutes.

There were chances a plenty in the first half. Sam thought he was through on goal when he was chopped down by a HW watt defender. Despite the last man wipeout, no card was shown leaving both teams baffled. Again Sam found himself through but his left foot shot was straight at the keeper, standard QMU striker protocol. Johnie also had a chance via a long kick from James (GK), however it was lobbed just over.

A ball across from Sam seemed to land perfectly for a volley for Lewis, however it went agonisingly wide much to the disappointment of his one fan. Other shots were had via long shots from Cammy and Jude and a few close headers for Johnie, but we just couldn’t seem to find the back of the net.

Into the second half and QMU were desperate for a second. However, H Watt found themselves through on goal via their (offside) striker however Jude in a flash of orange flew in and pulled off an amazing last ditch tackle.

Eventually our second goal came courtesy of super sub Lawrence as he latched onto a through ball from the midfield and slotted the ball into the near post.

Our third goal came via a sweet through ball to Jude who made a darting run from full back. This lovely ginger could have shot but instead sweatied it across to Sam who couldn’t miss (sometimes does) the open net. I owe him a pint  😏

And finally, Sam played a nice pass inside for Lawrence who from the edge of the box, scuffed a left foot shot top bins. A great way to close out the match and QMUnits’ first league win in a year. His performance today earned him a deserved MOTM.

Shoutouts go to everyone. Marco was solid despite being from a place where they call it soccer, Jack and Loui didn’t let anything past them, substitutes provide great cover. A great performance all round. It could’ve been 6 or 7 🤷🏻‍♂️
